Ante la preocupación por la poca circulación de monedas que hay en los comercios, desde el BCRA recordaron que existe un mecanismo de entrega directa de monedas a comercios, empresas o asociaciones empresariales que las requieran en cantidad. Los interesados deben escribir a la casilla de mail operaciones.monedas@bcra.gob.ar y coordinar con la entidad.
El proceso para sacar de circulación a este billete comenzó en agosto del año pasado. Hasta la fecha se destruyeron más de 50 millones de billetes, un 10% del total que se encuentran circulando por las calles de Argentina.
“Al tratarse del billete de menor denominación, el papel de 5 pesos sufre un deterioro más veloz que el resto de los billetes. Actualmente circulan 459,6 millones de unidades de este billete con la imagen del General José de San Martín en su anverso, que se emitió a partir de 1998. Desde el 1° de agosto de 2019, ya se retiraron de circulación más de 50 millones de billetes”, justificaron desde el Banco Central.
