La atención es por orden de llegada, desde las 9.00 hasta las 10.00, en los días y los lugares previstos por el cronograma que se puede consultar en lacosta.gob.ar/castraciones. Cabe destacar que las intervenciones se suspenden por lluvia.
Cada turno es por animal y la persona debe esperar en el lugar hasta la finalización de la cirugía. Dado que es necesario firmar un consentimiento autorizando el procedimiento, quien lleve a la mascota debe ser mayor de edad y presentar su DNI.
La campaña está destinada a perros a partir de los 6 meses. Las gatas también se castran a partir de los 6 meses, pero en el caso de los felinos machos deben tener 8 meses o más. Cada día de castraciones se realiza un máximo de intervenciones de 15 caninos y 20 felinos.
El animal tiene que concurrir con 12 horas de ayuno sólido y líquido. Es importante tener en cuenta que el ayuno sólido no debe superar las 12 horas y que la última comida tiene que mantener la cantidad habitual. Asimismo, la mascota debe estar limpia y seca y hay que llevar una manta para cobijarla tras la cirugía.
Otra cuestión a considerar es que los perros deben tener collar y correa y, en caso de ser agresivos o de tamaño grande, llevar bozal. Los gatos, por otro lado, deben ser trasladados en un bolso con ventilación adecuada, transportadora o bolsa de red, no en una caja de cartón.
